NEW COVID19 SAFETY
Kidz in the Kitchen is back with a new modified format which includes:
KIDZ In The Kitchen is an 8-week cooking program designed to introduce young people to cooking, making them feel more comfortable in the kitchen while developing valuable life skills. The participants learn kitchen and food safety, basic cooking techniques, budgeting, healthy meal planning, kitchen cleanliness, kitchen etiquette and teamwork skills. Participants will be encouraged to make healthy food choices, learn the benefits of healthy eating, develop social and communication skills, encouraged to experiment with new foods and foster creativity, confidence, positive self-esteem and resiliency for their futures.
This program will equip your child with the skills to make meals from scratch and select the ingredients that they need to make healthy choices and tasty food for the whole family.
Program format involves participants being split into two groups - "Cooking" and "Planning". Every class, one group will be lead by the chef facilitator to create the meal from scratch, while the other will brainstorm, decide and budget for the next meal to made next week. The budgeting group may still help out with a side dish for the upcoming dinner such as a salad, or an appetizer. Splitting into two groups gives each participant more to do and a more meaningful learning experience while in the kitchen. The Planning group will learn the importance of: budgeting, cost comparison, and kitchen/ cooking education.
Please let us know of any allergies and/or food sensitivities, or dietary restrictions you child(ren) have.
