Housing & Homelessness Support Program

Supporting youth in their journey to independence, CORE YouthLink program provides at-risk or homeless youth between the ages 16 to 26 access to food, shelter, clothing, safety and access to services; providing a sense of belonging for those who otherwise might go without.  If you are finding it challenging to meet some of your basic needs, you are not alone. We are here to help you feel safe and cared for.

We can provide youth with basic life necessities, help to find and maintain safe and appropriate housing, whether it is immediate access to emergency shelter or longer-term solutions. We can provide ongoing support while youth pursue personal goals such as education, work and training and offer assistance in developing a full plan to acquire the necessary skills to live independently. Youth receive one-on-one support, have access to rental listings, telephones to make inquiries, and workshops to help youth learn and understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants and to build the skills they need to avoid eviction and build skills to successfully live independently.

Youth requiring housing assistance usually lack family support and are often facing much larger issues such as abuse, family conflict, addictions or violence.  We can also connect youth to community resources and other support services to help address concerns or issues.

Trusteeship Program

Those under age 18 who can no longer reside with a parent or guardian and who apply to receive Ontario Works benefits require a Trustee in order to be a recipient.

CORE YouthLink acts as liaisons between Ontario Works caseworkers and youth benefit recipients and supports them in meeting their Ontario Works obligations. The program helps youth deal with other issues they may be facing, such as problems at school or work, or financial troubles.  Program staff work with schools, landlords and Ontario Works to ensure young people’s needs are met and their rights are respected.

CORE YouthLink Housing and Trusteeship program is offered throughout Lanark County.
